Medicine and Illness Policy

A policy to be used in Early Years detailing how you deal with medicines and illnesses and specific processes. This is editable.

This Medicine and Illness Policy outlines how childminders manage children’s health needs while in their care, including the safe administration of medication and clear procedures for dealing with sickness. Registered childminder’s have a legal and ethical responsibility to follow the EYFS Statutory Framework, Public Health England guidance, and GDPR regulations.

The policy explains how prescribed medicines are stored and administered only with written parental consent, how illness symptoms are monitored and acted upon, and what action is taken if a child becomes unwell during the day. It includes exclusion periods for common illnesses to reduce the spread of infection and ensure the safety and wellbeing of all children in the setting.

Overall, this policy is designed to create a safe, healthy, and responsive childcare environment where children’s medical needs are met with care and professionalism, and families feel confident and informed.

Please also see our other polices here.

Phonics Phase 1 planning

This is great we have printed it out and we use daily for the Nursery children for a short Phonics activity. It has saved me loads of time and is really well thought out and each activity is clearly explained so the staff know what to do. Each time they teach Phonics they are becoming more confident with presenting.
