Progression of Skills – EYFS Birth to End of Reception – Physical Development
This is a progression of skills document for Physical Development, it is broken down into the following sections:
- Core strength and posture
- Fine motor – wrist – arm and finger strength dexterity
- Holding a pencil
- Writing symbols – 8 figures of Visual Motor Integration) (VMI)
- Running. Jogging and skipping
- Throwing
- Catching
- Rolling
- Bat and striking
- Balance
- Kicking
- Skipping with a rope
- Dancing
- Gymnastics
Each section has a starting skill progresses up to the final skill for the end of Reception. This is useful for planning physical development.
