The week is organised by WRAP under the Recycle Now brand.
The aim of the week is to encourage the public to recycle more, by demonstrating the benefits of recycling items from all around the home.
In your early years settings, Recycle Week can be a great opportunity to introduce children to the concept of recycling and sustainability. Here are some ideas for activities:
Sorting Game: Create a game where children sort items into different recycling bins. You can use real items or pictures of items.
Discussion: Talk about why recycling is important and how it helps the planet. Use simple, age-appropriate language to explain the concept.
By incorporating Recycle Week into your early years curriculum, you can help children understand the importance of recycling and how they can contribute to protecting the environment.
